A review is a collection of media on which users and external collaborators can leave their feedback. As a logged in ftrack Review user you can access it from the Review page by clicking "Play review". For external collaborators it can only be accessed at specific times through uniquely generated invites sent to each collaborator. After following the special link in the invite, a collaborator is presented with the review page.
Tip: The user interface for reviews works just as well on the go as it does on desktop, with mobile/touch device support.
Clicking an item in the playlist at the bottom will play/display the selected video, image or PDF.
Use the on screen controls to play/pause media or to jump to a specific time in the currently loaded media. In addition, clicking on the playing media will cause it to pause.
Tip: Use the following keyboard shortcuts to speed up your work:
Feedback added to a video clip is visible as colored circles on the timeline. This makes it easy to see which portions of the video have the most feedback and who has commented, as each collaborator is associated with their own color. You can find out which collaborator is assigned which color by looking at the left edge of the comment in the feedback panel.
Clicking any of the left or right arrows at either side of the viewing area will navigate between the items on the timeline.
If there are multiple versions of the shared media it is possible to switch between those versions.
Select what to playback and loop options
You can change how videos are played by changing the Playback option:
- Play one: one video clip will be played.
- Play all: play all video clips in your playlist.
- Play selection: select what to play.
The loop options allows you to control if the video clip is played once or loops.
Set in and out points
Focus on specific sections of your media using in-and-out loop points. Press "I" and "O" to quickly set your loop points and your video will cycle through those timecode locations. Press "C" to clear the selection.
Feedback can be added at any time by writing a comment in the text field below the viewer or by annotating the currently displayed video or image using the annotation tools. Display the annotation tools by clicking the brush at the right in the comment field. It''s also possible to add attachments to the feedback.
Annotations made on a frame will automatically be attached as a file to a comment upon submit.
A collaborator can also mark an item as either approved or requiring changes by toggling the relevant status buttons.
Note: Each collaborator has their own approval status for each item in the timeline so no need to worry about disagreements between collaborators!
Tip: Annotations can also be enabled via the keyboard shortcuts:
Zoom and pan
Zooming and panning can be done using the Zoom and Pan tools in the interface.
Tip: Zoom and Pan can be activated via keyboard shortcuts:
Tip: you can pan media by holding down the middle mouse button.
You can read feedback already given on the media in the right side pane. Here you can also sort the feedback chronologically or by the videos frame number or PDF page.
Clicking on a page or frame number on the note will take you directly to that position in timeline.
If downloads are enabled by the creator of the review, a download button will appear next to the viewer tools. The original file together with the compressed version can be downloaded if they are available.
We try to ensure that client reviews works in as many browsers as possible, but in order to deliver advanced functionality such as annotations we utilize features that are only available in modern browsers. For the best experience we recommend using the latest versions of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
